UNICEF Against Child Labour
This image is from a series of ads produced by UNICEF to discourage the purchase and wear of goods produced by children in sweatshops.
The ads are both clever and poignant. They depict clothing items with cartoon images depicting the child labour that made them possible.

IF we can;t buy any shirts from child labored companies than their arn;t going to be any sport shirt for us to wear.

If you worked in an office, and your employer gives you a stack of papers to sort through, takes away your windows, takes away your desk and leaves you to file these folders on the floor until your fingers bleed, in the almost dark and the dirty… At the end of the day (from five in the morning until 10 at night) you sometimes recieve 50p, sometimes not.
Now if you’ve imagined all of that, you’d be a pretty deavated person. Now imagine being 5 years old.

now i am only 14, but i have done many projects that subject people around me to the harsh world of today. i am against child labor and i believe it is utterly disgusting. around the world, global sweatshops force young children into labor. these women and children work in horrible conditions to survive, and we only support this act to make a dollar. child labor is wrong. now im not saying you cant buy things from child labor enforcers such as Nike, GAP, Wal-Mart, and Coca-Cola, but im saying you must realize how devastating these “sweatshops” truly are.

Welll…child labour is a terrible thing. But what some people don’t realize is that by shutting sweatshops down, many families living in these poor countries will have no income, and will starve. Sweatshops really shouldn’t be allowed, and the people working there should be paid fair wages. However, if we try to force these globalized companies to pay them fair wages, it will be cheaper for them to cut down shipping costs and just manufacture them in North America or Europe. If this happens, the families in the 3rd world countries, as I mentioned, will lose what little money they have. We need to come up with an intelligent long term plan to respond to this issue or we may make it worse.
